Rabindranath Tagore

Though India has very large number of writers wring in several languages, so far only one of them has been awarded the Nobel prize for literature. This was the great poet called Rabindranath Tagore. He wrote all his books in Bengali. One of his greatest books was Geethanjali- Songs of dedication, which he himself translated in to English. The Nobel prize was awarded to this book. Rabindranath Tagore used the prize money to start a University called Shanti Niketan (The abode of peace).
