The great MusicianOnce there was a great musician. All his life he spent in a village near the forest all alone. After becoming very old, he thought, ”I have now become very old. I should have a suitable companion.” After this he took his violin and started to play the divine music. A wolf was attracted by the music and came near him with folded hands. It told the musician, “I want to learn this music from you.” Then the musician told the wolf, “Would you obey whatever I tell?” The wolf replied, “Sir, you would be my Guru and I would obey you like a student.” Then the musician and the wolf started walking together. They came near a small pit. The musician told the wolf, “Jump in to this pit,” The wolf did. Then the musician told the wolf,” You be here and wait for me.” Then he walked for some more distance and again started playing his violin. This time a fox was attracted by the music. It told the musician, “I want to learn this music from you.” Then the musician told the fox, “Would you obey whatever I tell?” The fox replied, “Sir, you would be my Guru and I would obey you like a student.” The musician took the fox to some distance. He then bent a small tree to the ground. He asked the fox to show his left paw. This he tied to the tree. Then he asked the fox to show the right paw. This also he tied to the tree and then he released the tree. The fox was then hanging in the air. Then the musician told the wolf,” You be here and wait for me.” Then the musician walked for some more distance and again started playing the violin. This time a rabbit came running. It told the musician, “I want to learn this music from you.” Then the musician told the rabbit, “Would you obey whatever I tell?” .The rabbit replied, “Sir, you would be my Guru and I would obey you like a student.” The musician took the rabbit to some distance. Then he tied a rope around its neck. He tied the other end of the rope to a strong tree. Then he told the rabbit. Now you start running round the tree. The rabbit obeyed. It became securely tied to the tree. Then the musician told the wolf,” You be here and wait for me.” Mean time by jumping and scratching the mud, the wolf was able to escape from the pit. It wanted to take revenge on the musician. It started running towards him. On its way it saw the fox hanging on a tree. The fox requested, “Brother wolf, that musician has deceived me also. Please set me free. “ The wolf cut the rope and freed the fox. Both the wolf and the fox started running to catch the musician. On the way they both saw the rabbit securely tied to a tree. The rabbit told, “Brother wolf and brother fox, that musician has also deceived me. Please help me.” The fox cut the rope and freed the rabbit. Now the wolf, rabbit and the fox started hunting for the musician. By this time the musician had reached near the end of the forest. He again played the violin. This time a very strong woodcutter along with an axe approached him. He told the musician, “Sir, would you kindly teach me your music. Then I will become your friend and be with you.” The musician agreed. Just then the wolf, fox and the rabbit reached there. The strong woodcutter chased them out. The musician started teaching music to the woodcutter. |
